Description

Released in 1987-1999 as an open edition, this pin features Goofy, portrayed as the Chinese priest Sha Wujing, wearing a distinctive outfit of a red shirt and orange beads with an orange crescent moon-shaped decoration on his head. The pin's background is black, gold metal with serrated edges and adorned with the Chinese characters "Journey to the East in 'to have fun", presumably referencing Hong Kong returning to Chinese rule. The design alludes to the Chinese tale of Journey to the West, a quest story involving Buddhism. Issued at a value denominated in Hong Kong dollars, this pin's source is unknown and belongs to the set: Pluto, Daisy, Minnie, Goofy, Mickey, Donald.
