The 155,000 Pin Reference Catalog

I knew the site would get a lot more useful if there was a real reference catalog behind it, so I finally tackled the big import. Pin Portfolio now has a catalog of more than 155,000 Disney pins with titles, editions, origins, and whatever description data I could gather. Watching that data land in the app was one of those moments where the scale of the project suddenly changed overnight.

Of course, a catalog that big comes with a lot of holes. Some pins had great metadata, some had almost nothing, and plenty sat somewhere in between. To fill in the gaps, I used local LLMs through Ollama to help generate missing descriptions and clean up rough entries. It was a nice way to enrich the dataset without sending everything off to another paid service.

The best part is that every pin in the catalog now has its own page, which makes the whole thing much easier to browse and search. It is no longer just a backend reference table that powers detection. It is turning into a library collectors can actually explore.
